Some kids may find this fun, but it will not help anyone understand important algebraic ideas such as why do we balance, what is an equation, when and why do we simplify. To insist on gamifying mathematics is to assert that children are incapable of being led to interesting destinations by the power of their own curiosity.

I played myself this great game and as my kids me too I liked a lot. A new way to look to algebra. Thanks Prof. Jo Boaler for this suggested game.

I am convinced a 10 year old can learn Algebra in one week with this. What schools teach in a year or two in high school a 10 year old would learn in a week with this App. If you dont get this for your child then you are a bad parent. That is all there is to it.

I got the first app for my 7 year old who cranked through it easily. I got this one for myself. Who knew algebra was a fun game? Apparently these guys. I wish the app continued to generate problems to solve. I like this so much more than sudoku and I am not wasting my time.

Both I and my 7 year old thoroughly enjoy this app. I have always loved math, so math play is a natural for me. What is surprising is how much my son (who is doing math only as far as basic addition and subtraction in school) is understanding and enjoying the logic of Algebra by playing this game. (Plus, he loves meeting the little dragons.) Now that I know what is possible, I cant imagine why any teacher or homeschooling parent would want to introduce the fundamentals of Algebra any other way. A truly excellent app!

By chapter 2 you are working with some letters and some pictograms. By chapter 3 it is all letters. You earn more stars when your answer is simplified. They start getting complicated and youll need to do the operations in the correct order. And youll learn shortcuts like adding a negative to both sides or divide by BOX to move it to the other side. Challenging yet totally subliminal learning.

Our daughter is autistic and has dyscalcula, and is having too much fun to realize shes learning math. Her step-mom is a math major, and thinks this is a terrific way to teach our home-schooled 12-year-old the basics. PLEASE KEEP GOING!!! We need the next levels.

My 5 year old would not put this down until he finished all levels of both games. He even shuns Angry Birds now in favor of this.

I bought this app and found out it is a horrible app. It does not do what it suppose to do. I feel I was cheated. Do not buy this App.

Fun way to keep up on your algebra skills.

Happens to teach or refresh algebra concepts while just being an addictive game.

Surprisingly good. Algebra has always been like a game where there is a mystery that can be solved by using various "powers" like multiplying both sides by the same thing. This app takes this just far enough away from something that looks like math (at first) to make this really work. Great app.

We have 10 and 7 year old girls that Bo love this game. We bought this for the 10 year old for pre-algebra and the 7 year old started playing with it too. Definitely teaches the concepts of algebra, and is very addicting. Addicting for the parents too.

This was a fantastic game for my ten year old. I loved it because it took him away from Minecraft- he loved it because it had dragons. He also is not very strong with basic math facts, and he didnt need those to be successful at this game. That was a nice confidence boost. However, he finished it in less than a week. Im not bragging- Im just frustrated because he and I both wish it had more. Please add on! Thats why it got a 4 star, not 5.

Make an advanced version!!!! I want an awesome calculus game....please :)

I love this game. I bought it for my grandson and got hooked myself. Having worked my way through the entire first round of equations, I did find a few glitches. There were two or three times that the "solution" didnt finish. Now I am on the "B" side and each time I finish a chapter the screen freezes and I have to turn off my iPad to get it going again. It would be great to have these issues fixed, but I would buy DragonBox anyway.

Literally retaught me high school algebra. Now I dont have to take the college class that isnt worth a college credit. If you cant remember high school math just buy the app its worth it.

Excellent app. Im playing this version for fun, and have started my 10 yr old on the first one. He is learning very quickly. The concepts are presented clearly without a lot of language. Recommend!
